ADOPTABLE ANIMALS
The following are some of the animals available for adoption at Walton County Animal Control. Please see our detailed adoption procedures and rescue procedures before inquiring. Since not every animal is always posted, please contact the shelter when looking for a lost pet to file a detailed lost report.

Note on "Mandatory Hold" dates:  as soon as an animal's hold date expires, it is available for adoption, rescue, and sadly, for euthanasia. We try to hold animals as long as possible, but we are an open door shelter and can frequently run out of space rapidly. Therefore, it is crucial that animals be adopted or rescued as close to the hold expiration date as possible. We accept applications and rescues inquires during the hold period.  Requesting to hold one animal longer may result in another being euthanized sooner. The hold end date does not necessarily mean the animal will be put to sleep on that date, but there is no guarantee the animal will be held longer once the hold expires.

PREFER TO FOLLOW ON FACEBOOK OR TWITTER?
Friends of Walton County Animal Control is a Facebook page run by volunteers who watch waltonpets.net and make updates as they can. But remember to check back here on waltonpets.net for the most  current and accurate information.
Also, the shelter does not see the conversations on the Facebook page, so always email the shelter directly for inquiries and applications.
As Friends of WCAC is run by volunteers, Walton County Animal Control does not have control over, nor is responsible, for the postings made on the Facebook page. The most accurate information is posted on waltonpets.net. Requests on the Facebook page to hold animals do not come directly to the shelter. All inquiries must be made directly to the shelter.

A Note on Sponsorships and Rescues: as we do not solicit the sponsorships nor personally know many of the sponsors, the shelter cannot guarantee the delivery of any donation. We transfer to GA Licensed Rescues or 501c3 out-of-state rescues. We trust that the GA Department of Agriculture is inspecting the groups they license, and that the IRS is holding accountable those groups it grants 501c3 status. We are not responsible for any misappropriation of donations as no funds ever go through the shelter's hands.

Wish List: Don't see a particular kind of dog or cat you are looking for? Just send an email to be placed on our wishlist for specific breeds and breed mixes.

Normal site update hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 5:00.

WE WILL RETURN TO OUR NORMAL WEB FORMAT ON MONDAY, JUNE 24

Our Director, who normally does the photos and web updates, will be out of the office June 17-21. Our already small staff will be even smaller and extensive web updates may not be possible. Adopters may call 770-267-1322 during office hours for updates and inquiries. (The shelter is closed Saturday, June 15.) Rescues, we urge you to stop by during Rescue Pick-Up Hours or give us a call to see what is available. Just because animals aren't being posted doesn't mean animals aren't coming in or aren't in danger.

Please see our Petfinder scroller below for some of the animals in the shelter. But please, come visit us any day during the week during our viewing hours

If you wish to sponsor an animal, please send an email (friendsofwcac@hotmail.com) to our Facebook volunteer and she will post your donation pledge on the Friends of WCAC FB page.
